Beulah - Don't Forget To Breathe

I've been doing my damndest to turn everyone who will listen on to Clark and Michael. This webshow from Michael Cera of Arrested Development and his buddy Clark Duke has got to be one of the funniest damn things I've seen in a long time. From Michael's latest blog entry:

Don't Forget to Breathe,
Hey guys. Wanted to say - almost 6 weeks ago now Episode 4 was put up on the website and since then I've been trying desperately to get mine and Clark's final cut of the episode posted. The main difference being that it now features an incredible song that we were fortunate enough to use - due solely to the generosity of one of our favorite bands, "Beulah."

I contacted Miles Kurosky of Beulah about a week prior to the episode being posted and he responded immediately. After a few email exchanges, he told us that we could use the song in the episode, despite the fact that we could in no way remunerate for such a gem. That said, I would have been heartbroken if we couldn't use the song, as it is absolutely perfect in the episode (I think) and it's also one of my favorite songs.

In summation, if you have any taste in music PLEASE go buy all of Beulah's albums, they are all musical massages. My endless thanks to Miles and Beulah for letting us use "Don't Forget to Breathe" in episode 4, and my endless thanks to those of you who are going to go out and stock up on Beulah music.

Beulahly,
- mike

Here's a link to the episode in question, but I really suggest that you start with episode one and work your way up. I've also posted the demo version of Don't Forget To Breathe. Amazon has a double disc set with Yoko and the Demo here. Enjoy!

p.s. My apologies to Abby for editing you out of the picture and for backing into your tour van the last time you were in Dallas. My bad!

Terrene released their new album The Indifferent Universe last week. I mentioned back in April that Terrene has been working on this album for nearly three years. MTV's The State on DVD, FINALLY!

I had to hop on to post about this because I have been waiting years. Now I can finally lay around and watch The State all day, just like I did in high school. Goddamn my life is boring...

Stephen Malkmus

Malkmus and Nastanovich treated the Pitchfork crowd to a couple of old Pavement tunes yesterday. Here are a couple of videos I snagged from Youtube as well as a couple of acoustic tracks from a KCRW session back in 2005. Also... from Pitchfork:

"basic trax for (new) album committed to tape...67.4685% completed...Looks to be done sometime in Late June."

Woo-Hoo!

Of Montreal

Well it looks like Matt Dawson has left Of Montreal. I'm told it's an amicable split and that he just needed a break from the constant touring. Best luck in all that you do from all of us here at the Garden. (really it's just me)

Here are some Of Montreal tunes featuring some of my favorite bass lines.

Of Montreal - Eros' Entropic Tundra
Of Montreal - Let's Do Everything For The First Time Forever
Of Montreal - The Actor Oppobrium
Of Montreal - Neat Little Domestic Life

The Fiery Furnaces

The Fiery Furnaces have a new album coming out in October called Widow City.

Here's an absolutely amazing track I think you will enjoy:

This week the Foo Fighters released a 10th anniversary edition of The Colour and the Shape with 6 bonus songs. All of these tracks have been previously released as B-sides or on compilations.

Sonic Youth

This is the first public performance of Sonic Youth.

"The songs performed bear some resemblance to later SY tracks in some elements (the first piece has Burning Spear's drumbeat, Thurston's vocals on one song are reminiscent of I Don't Want to Push It...), but are entirely unique. They don't sound completely improvised, either."

02. Unknown Song 2
03. Unknown Song 3

Rain Rain, Go Away!

It's been raining for what feels like a week now and I'm fucking sick of it! Don't get me wrong, I love the rain, but I think we've reached that point in our relationship where we need some time apart. Although, it does give me ideas for blogs so I guess that helps. Here is my "rain mix". If you have any ideas or suggestions about songs you feel I should have added, or comments like "That song's not really about rain!" then take a trip to Fuckoffity Land and make your own mix. Enjoy! :>D
